OPINION: A Shift in Perspective: Narratives of Blindness in Beyond Eyes

Catherine Ashley·August 25, 2015
I’ve had to wear glasses since I was in the 6th grade, and without them the world becomes a bit more hostile, a bit more uncomfortable and a bit more claustrophobic. Maybe that’s why I had such a strong reaction to Beyond Eyes. Simplistic in its mechanics, yet complex in narrative, Beyond Eyes forced me to grapple with my own fears, biases and contemplate what it means to live without sight.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest Review – Nostalgia In a Box

Nicholas MacDonald·August 22, 2015
I remember playing with action figures. Hours of intense imaginary campaigns in which only one side could be victorious. Do kids still play with action figures? They must, otherwise they are missing out. Toy soldiers had me hooked with the trailer as He-Man and G.I. Joe made quick cameos. “I HAD THOSE TOYS!” at this moment the nostalgia factor went through the roof.

Indie Spotlight Thursday: Hot Date

Catherine Smith-Desbiens·August 21, 2015
Pink pugs, candle light, a timer, a series of questions and some questionable albeit witty answers... That pretty much sums up Hot Date, a dating sim by indie game developer George Batchelor. A fortunate last name for someone who made a dating sim.

Review: Rewind Time with Rare Replay

Leah Jewer·August 19, 2015
Xbox had a stroke of genius and blew us away this past E3 (or perhaps trying to make up for previous E3 blunders) when they announced backwards compatibility on the Xbox One. Rare Replay is their first major foray into their retro game catalog: a collection of 30 games from the critically acclaimed developer Rare, packaged together for us gamers to enjoy, at the cost of $30.

The Zombi That Broke My Heart: A Review

Catherine Ashley·August 19, 2015
I haven’t finished Ubisoft’s Zombi yet. Scratch that; I can’t finish it, unless I restart from the beginning. Unfortunately, I’m part of the chosen few; the unlucky ones that you read about but let out a collective sigh of relief with the rest of the gaming world that it didn’t happen to you: I ran into a game breaking glitch.
